Drew House, by Simon Laws

The Australian climate offers opportunity especially for unique holiday houses. Like this one for photographer Marian Drew and family by Simon Laws of Anthill Construction for “a one of a kind campsite” in Seventy South, near Gladstone and right next to  “the most northerly surf break on the east Australian coast, at the start of the Great Barrier Reef.”

Prefabricated housing doesn’t have to be dull.

Love almost all of this house, but one room. Solve this for me Peter (and I speak as a prude). Why, in so many of the houses I like, are there bathrooms with absolutely no privacy? It's like living areas by libertarians, and toilets by police statists where all your dingly dangly bits have to be on show?

About six months before the Sept 2010 Chch earthquake we looked at a new apartment in a complex at Ferrymead (now demolished, so missed a bullet there), however, though the inside interiors were lovely, the bathroom, including the toilet, was in a wide corridor from the lounge to the bedroom and the whole wall, floor to ceiling was glass! I asked the agent what the hell, and she said it European - I thought it was just stupid.
