Interesting ‘Stuff’ front page

The headline and portrait accompanies a bizarre hit piece on Rand by Jennifer Burns, who claims Rand’s work “occupies a vaunted position in modern Republican thought”—and today's US election therefore “should go down as a referendum on the long conservative fascination with Ayn Rand.”

I can only say, “I wish!”

Jennifer Burns wrote a biography of Rand that eloquently demonstrates Oscar Wilde’s dictum for such things: “Formerly we used to canonise our heroes. The modern method is to vulgarise them.”

Her hit piece amounts to much the same.

Yes, that Republican Party that trumpets secularism, rejects economic nationalism, that would abolish social security, medicare and medicaid, that proposes low flat tax, believes in unrestrained free speech, accepts unlimited immigration of those who are not criminals and don't want any claim on the state, and wants to contain the Federal Government to defence and law and order.

Must have missed that, much like the reporter Jennifer Burns missed actually reading any of Rand's book.

Another "journalist" who no doubt thinks bloggers are beneath her.
